Asus Nexus 7 (3G) Officially Introduced in Australia

Unlike Australian retailer Kogan, which sells the Nexus 32GB 3G for $ 330 / € 265, Asus recommends a suggested retail price of $ 369 / € 295 for the slate.

The Wi-Fi only Nexus 7 32GB will be up for sale for $ 319 / € 255, while the 16GB version will sell for $ 269 / € 215 outright.

According to Asus, the 3G model will be compatible with Australian and New Zealand 3G networks, though it won't be locked to any carrier.

The manufacturer has also confirmed that all three models will be available from major retailers across the country, including Harvey Norman, JB HiFi, Dick Smith Electronics, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, Radio Rentals, Office Works, EB Games, BSR, authorized ASUS channel resellers and the Google Play store.

Keep in mind that in New Zealand, the Nexus 7 tablet is distributed by Synnex and will be up for sale via Harvey Norman, Dick Smith and various ASUS resellers.

This is the first 7-inch tablet equipped with a quad-core processor, Asus claims. The Nvidia Tegra quad-core processor delivers advanced graphics and offers increased performance and power efficiency.

The cellular version of the slate packs 32GB of internal memory, but no microSD card slot for memory expansion.

The Nexus 7's display supports 800 x 1280 pixels resolution (216ppi) and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

Although Asus Nexus 7 has been launched with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean platform out of the box, Google has already released an Android 4.2.1 update, which is now available for download.

It is also worth mentioning that the tablet is powered by a 4325 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 300 hours of standby time or up to 9 hours of talk time.
