Robust and compact Shuttle system for Intel's Core platform

Shuttle has launched a new barebone system, the DS61. The barebone is sized 190 x 165 x 43 mm and can be fitted with an Intel Core Sandy or Ivy Bridge processor, as long as the maximum TDP is 65 watts. The motherboard is based on Intel's H61 chipset and can hold up to 16 GB of memory. Due to size limitations, only a single 2.5-inch hard disk or solid-state drive can be installed.

The motherboard also has a Mini PCI-e 2.0 x1 slot, to add an mSATA drive, WiFi or 3G module, among other things. Other connectivity includes dual Gigabit LAN, 2x USB 3.0, RS-232, DVI, HDMI and audio connectors. The barebone is kept cool by heatpipes and two fans. Power comes from an external 80 watts adaptor. An integrated card reader is present on the front panel. The system can be turned on through a special cable, allowing the barebone to stay out of sight.
