Sony Xperia Z Arriving in Italy in March for €650/$870

Unveiled last week at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013 (CES) in Las Vegas, Sony Xperia Z is expected to hit shelves sometime in February. Multiple UK-based carriers and retailers confirmed that the smartphone will arrive in February, but the rest of countries are likely to get it in March.

In this regard, the folks over at Wired.it have been able to confirm with David Draghi, head of sales at Sony Mobile Italy, that the Xperia Z was set for release in Italy in March.

According to Sony’s official, the smartphone will be available for purchase for €650/$870 outright. It appears that the Xperia Z has the same price in Germany and France as well, which means it will probably cost the same in most European countries.

Specs-wise, the Xperia Z is the best-featured Sony smartphone. It comes equipped with a powerful 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, which is complemented by an Adrneo 320 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

Even though the device will ship with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, Sony has already confirmed that the Xperia Z will receive and Android 4.2 upgrade soon after launch.

Another selling point of the superphone is the impressive 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features LED flash, autofocus, HDR, sweep panorama and full HD (1080p) video recorder. There’s also a 2.2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

Moreover, the Xperia Z boasts a stunning 5.0-inch Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. The smartphone is IP57 certified, which makes it dust- and water-resistant (waterproof up to 1 meter and 30 minutes).

Sony Xperia Z comes 16GB of internal memory, as well microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB). It will also feature LTE support, along with TV-out, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS with GLONASS.
