Acer C7 Chromebook Line Expanded for Education, Business Customers

Acer America today announced that it has expanded its line of Acer C7 Chromebook models for its commercial customers, including schools and businesses that need reliable, fast and affordable technology for their students and work forces. The two new models both have a fast 16GB Solid State Drives (SSDs), which enhance boot times and access to apps, as well as a 6-cell battery that delivers up to 6-hour battery life for all-day learning and productivity. Customers have the choice of two new models -- the Acer C710-2826 with 2GB of DDR3 RAM, and the Acer C710-2815 with 4GB DDR3 RAM.

Our new Acer C7 Chromebooks deliver exactly what the K-12 education market and so many businesses require -- solid performance at an affordable price with up to 6-hours of battery life," said Gregg Prendergast, vice president, U.S. Commercial Sales, Acer America. "Acer C7 Chromebooks will help our customers at schools -- students, teachers and administrators -- as well as our business customers, get to work and be productive right away for longer."

Students and professionals will also be able to get right to work with the Acer C7 models; they boot in just 8-seconds and can almost instantly resume from sleep mode. Powered by an x86 architecture Intel Celeron 847 dual-core processor (2MB L3 cache, 1.10GHz, DDR3 1333 MHz), the Acer Chromebooks provide the performance needed for solid all-around productivity. Customers will enjoy a fast and reliable online connection with dual band a/b/g/n WIFI, making them ideal for use on an office or campus wireless network.

Acer C7 Chromebooks are designed with security features to protect customers as well as the device. The Chrome O/S is automatically updated and guards against changing and new online threats, such as viruses and malware. Also, the Chromebooks have a Kensington lock, so they can be secured to a wireless cart or lab.
Administrators will find setting up and managing Chromebooks to be intuitive and efficient. The web-based management console allows management of apps and policies across all Chromebooks in the network.(2) Identified Acer customers in the K-12 education market have access to U.S.-based Acer Premier Care that is designed to address the needs of schools, students and administrators. These Acer customers can also take advantage of the Acer Educare Warranty Program to further protect their investment with solutions such as battery replacement, paid two-way shipping, and accidental damage protection. The Acer C7 is incredibly portable, weighing only 3.05 pounds, and measuring only an inch thin, so it can be conveniently transported by students and employees for collaboration on presentations, documents, calendars and more. Schools will consider them ideal for 1:1 initiatives as well as labs, classrooms and mobile carts, since the C7 Chromebooks support multiple user sign on for secure access to email, documents and other projects.
The Acer C7 Chromebooks are equipped with the features that help people do more. The 11.6-inch HD Widescreen CineCrystal LED-backlit LCD vibrantly shows websites, video and Chrome apps. It has a HD webcam with 1280 x 720 resolution for capturing quality video and photos. Customers have added flexibility with a range of ports including HDMI, three USB ports, VGA and Ethernet, as well as an SD card slot for accessing data and media files.

The new Acer C710 Chromebooks are now available through Acer authorized resellers. The Acer C710-2826 with 2GB of DDR3 RAM available for $259 ESP, and the Acer C710-2815 with 4GB DDR3 RAM for $279 ESP. Both new models come with a standard one-year parts and labor warranty, which can be extended to three years with the Acer Advantage service. All Acer Chromebooks are backed by toll-free service and support.
